Case Study – Lancaster County Commercial Business
56 kW array holding 50 kW flat for seven hours straight, with a 1.12 to 1 DC/AC ratio
Project Notes
- A 56 kW array holding 50 kW flat for seven hours straight, with a 1.12 to 1 DC/AC ratio.
- Getting that same profile from fixed tilt takes closer to 2:1, with extra modules so the inverter can reach rated output morning and afternoon, and wasted energy through midday. A dual-axis tracker optimizes with geometry instead. The panels stay square to the sun all day rather than catching it at an angle.
- Watch the shoulders, not the plateau. Producing at sunrise, still going up to 8pm. A commercial load isn’t a bell curve either, so more of those kWh get consumed on site instead of exported.
- 56 kW DC / 50 kW AC on two poles in Lancaster County. Designed, permitted, interconnected, and installed in house.
