Your Commercial Solar Installation Process, Simplified
Going solar is a smart business decision, and we make the transition seamless. From your initial consultation to system activation, here’s are the commercial solar installation steps:
Stage 1: Site Evaluation & Feasibility Study
We begin with a detailed on-site evaluation to assess solar potential.
- We examine your roof or available land area for sun exposure, structural integrity, and shading.
- Using solar modeling tools, we determine expected output and whether your site meets key thresholds for commercial solar panel installation efficiency.
- You receive a plain-language summary explaining how solar installation works for your specific property.

What Federal Tax Credits Are Available for Commercial Solar Panel Installation?
Businesses with qualifying commercial solar projects may be able to choose between the Clean Electricity Investment Credit (ITC), which provides a credit based on eligible installation costs, and the Clean Electricity Production Credit (PTC), which provides an inflation-adjusted, per-kilowatt-hour credit for qualifying electricity produced and sold during the project's first 10 years.
The ITC has a 6% base rate that can increase to 30% when applicable requirements are met. Projects under 1 megawatt (MW) AC generally qualify for the 30% rate without having to satisfy prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements. Larger projects generally must meet those labor requirements to receive the increased rate.
Projects with higher installation costs relative to their expected energy production may find the ITC more advantageous, while projects with strong long-term production may benefit more from the PTC. The best choice depends on the project's cost, size, production, timing, and tax circumstances.
Can My Commercial Solar Installation Qualify for Bonus Tax Credits?
Yes. Commercial solar projects in Pennsylvania (and across the U.S.) can qualify for stackable bonus credits on top of the baseline 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC) under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Commercial projects may be eligible for additional credits, including a 10% domestic content bonus for using U.S.-manufactured steel and solar components, and a 10% energy community bonus if the installation is in a designated former coal or fossil fuel area. These can stack on top of the 30% ITC, increasing your total credit to 40% or more.
Are Roofing Expenses Included in the Commercial Solar ITC?
Not typically. The cost of replacing or installing a standard roof isn’t eligible for the ITC unless the roofing materials are specially engineered to support solar generation, like solar shingles, solar tiles, or reflective membranes. In those cases, only the incremental cost beyond standard roofing may be included.
